Chitto Da's Shop

In this blog, i will give you all the necessary information to one of the famous street which has been a great place for fast food in Kolkata. Yes, it is Dacres lane i am talking about.

One of the famous shop in this street( lane to be specific) is Chitto Da's shop.

The shop was started in late 50's by Shirish chandra roy. The place has been a regular for many office goers and off course the students. The food is not only good but its pocket friendly too. The shop specialises in bengali snacks and the bengali version of some dishes. But the  chitto da specialises in Chicken stew which is best served with quarter bread and cucumber and onion julienne.

The chicken stew contains a piece of chicken which is cooked with light spices and the stew also contains vegetables like potatoes, carrots and papaya. The stew is  not only tasty but healthy too. Chitto da started as a tea shop but with time it has changed to serving ghugni  and mutton chop and then came chicken and veg stew. Chitto da's ghugni is also served with julliene carrots, onions and cucumber and is best when eaten with quarter bread and tea.

Another thing Chitto da is famous is Mutton chop which is a hot favorite for all ages(from  8 to 80).
The mutton mince mixed with spices blends well when fried with grounded biscuit as a binding agent.

Other than these, Chitto da also serves Veg stew(it contains various vegetables like baby corn, potatoes, papaya, carrots etc and has a same gravy as that of chicken stew), vegetable chop, mutton kebabs and many more.
But Chitto da's tea is a major attraction still now. Though the ambience of the shop is not at all good and unhygienic people may hate to sit and eat there , but chitto da is a must try for every Calcuttan and others to taste the actual heritage of their city.

                                                   The Chicken chaanp

One of the favorite dishes of Kolkata is Biriyani. So it is very hard for a restaurant to get among the top of the biriyani makers of the city giving top competition with other renowned restaurants such as Shiraz, Arsalan, Zeeshan etc. The restaurant also serves various kebabs such as Murgh Dhania kebab, Afghani Chicken Tandoori. But according to me the most delicious among the kebabs is the Chicken tikka kabab.

The restaurant has opened its first branch in  Esplanade. The branch helped in the publicity of the cinema halls developed in the New Market area. Now, there are ten branches of the restaurant. The tasty food and the reasonable price of the restaurant helped its branches to grow well. The chicken/mutton biriyani costs Rs 130 and the  chicken chaanp costs Rs 120  .
